Disclaimer

I'm sorry, but most of the big presents bought are for my mum. Because only coming here, have i realised her worth. Being a full-time dedicated housewife, you lose your connection with the outside world, trends and friends. But being a full-time housewife AND employee, its double triple quadruple work. And especially when the other members of the family don't help or help minimally.

It just isnt fair to the mum, and when mum says she's tired, i know what she means now. When she is easily irritated, its granted.

BUT of course...there ARE also the mothers who no matter what, will stay quiet and do,do and do. That will be a slow and painful death...bottling everything up. Or maybe they're closet saddo machoist, seek pleasure in doing endless chores.

Then, ok...of course the dad has his credits. He's the one who sent me here...BUT there's always nothing to buy for the dad. Mum's easily pleased because she's a woman..bags, purse, clothes...affordable stuff. But the dad, he don't need too many ties, not all shirts suit him...what i'd really like to buy him some day is the latest PDA phone, or some gadget.

So dad, its not that i don't remember you. Its just that you're harder to shop for. Mum has a further advantage because she's the same gender as me.

P.S Dad, i used my own money for the presents. Don't worry. :)

So you dont sell curry puffs, i will make my own.

Perth's so boring, nothing much to do right...that you end up thinking all sorts of things. I can't wait for my own kitchen in my new house (kinda overcrowded at the moment here). Then i will go into a baking frenzy..hahaa, chicken pie, qiche, lagsena,pizza...best of all, i don't even use recipes...experimental chef ;p

But now i can understand why mum gets so frustrated cooking sometimes. Coz she will run out of ideas....AND after cooking..MUST wash!! That's tiring, especially if you got a day job as well. I dislike the boyfriend after eating, shake his backside and go watch tv. MCP...its tiring you know. One day i'll snap..actually i have...but its even worse nagging....oh well, lessons about relationships...i have learnt, and i know.

BUT BUT....the times when he DO wash...i also not very comfortable..cause he does it so fast, water splashes everywhere...and i just feel its not clean enough...sigh....what a woman i am.

At the end of 2 years, my hands are going to get rough....

Highlight of the day: Jenny sent me a surprise parcel!! So sweet..just when i had that craving for that particular biscuit!! She sent a packet of 10, japanese heart shaped ones!! Luckily it went through quarantine..phew

I love snail mail! (this is a hint, gundus.)

Good gosh, what have i done?!

My house mates found out it was my birthday when they saw the flowers...so they slipped a card under my door...i must say, they're like SWAT...very efficient...But i'm even better, i made a thank you card back for each one of them

THEN, they got me a surprise birthday cake...lights off and all when i returned home from work. With trick candles included.

So sweet.....

Its not my house mates...

Security...someone just stepped into my flat, and dropped the flowers off. Told you, none of my house mates will wake up to answer the door nor the phone..hahaha

But i guess, that's how school is. Or rather, Perth. It IS rather safe...but my house mates just wont listen. They ALWAYS don't lock the main door, and they leave their PS outside in the living room.

What if someone comes to steal our food? Steal our industrial vacuum cleaner?

Sperm meets egg

Highlight of the day: My birthday treat to myself! Hahaha, sounds sad but really, i am fine with it. Told you, the only comfort and celebratory thing here is food, food and maybe shopping.

I dig my school's satay chicken. Funny though, its ALWAYS curry vegetables, ONLY one choice of vegetables (ok, actually its not even a choice, because there's nothing else) with 10 other choices of meat. Then bubble tea...i was contemplating to buy it (SGD 3.50) or just wait a little while longer where i can get it for (SGD 1). But i figured, its my birthday. So, sue me.

The boyfriend took me for curry fish head dinner last night though. Told you, nothing else to do except eat. I wanted to go for the kayak safari..to see seals, sea lions etc. But the boyfriend is terrified of SHARKS! Well, yeah..there has been sightings at the beaches lately..and we'll be kayaking into the island of shark feed. BUT...it'll be so fun! *sulk*

No one wants to do anything with me. Especially dangerous stuff...

I never expected this at all. First thing in the morning of my birthday...flowers sent to me door. I was out for a jog, i suppose my house mate received it for me. Interestingly enough, someone actually woke up to get the door. Usually, they wake up super late, no one answers the phone nor the door if its in the morning. I am the only early bird.

The first time i received flowers was when i was 15. Valentines day...from a girl. She even bought me a stereo. My junior who's a lesbian. In judo, there're many lesbians...i suppose i'm one out of the five who are not. Once, i was standing up, and this lesbian sitting down beside my leg. But this lesbian is abit WHACKO. She suddenly bit my leg..and i got a shock, screamed and ask why did she do that for.

She told me she was HUNGRY!!!! I got a bigger shock and pointed to my fat friend beside me and asked..."you hungry, why not her then?"

I ended up offending that friend...i couldnt help it! My mouth was faster than my brain!

15-16 were my best years..i got lots of flowers that period..then they all dwindled as men became smarter (positive thinking), or stingy (negative thinking) , and figured they shouldnt invest while courting. I've never really thought flowers and soft toys were something to gush about. I'm more of a practical kind of girl.

Give me an ang pow anytime, please! :P BUT i must admit, its nice to have them delivered to your door..the element of surprise.

Then, my best friend in secondary school bought me many bouquet of flowers too. She's lebian too, and seem to have a knack for giving flowers. She even give me ang pow during chinese new year lah. She's a kick ass lesbian good friend. We only became good friends when i rejected her. SEE!! This is how women differ from men. Men always got motives one, and very shallow! You reject them, they not so nice to you anymore. Or they don't even be close or be your friend. Tsk, tsk...men, don't you get it? Sometimes, good things you must wait. Stay close even if she rejects you. You never know, sincerity will do you good.

Then when i was 17, someone from the UK sent flowers on my birthday..that was another huge surprise..especially its from a friend who i lost touch with for six years!!

Then when i was working in 77th street...my managers were so utterly nice to deliver me a teddy bear and flowers on my graduation day. I started working with them before i even graduated.

And now, this. Today...flowers from someone who's always there. Someone i've always appreciated but i don't really show. ( can't help it, i'm naturally FIERCE.)

As i'm studying consumer behaviour, the mood of the shop is very important. There's this high end shop, Peter Alexander..they specialise in sleep wear mainly..the items were so-so, but the mood...i tell you...is very very enticing. Makes you want to buy, just for the sake of buying. Nothing caught my eye, not the clothes, they're not worth the price..BUT when i saw what packaging they had for customers with purchases...they make me want to BUY! Ok,fine..maybe i'm a sucker for anything with cute dogs on it. Their shopping bags, have a sausage dog with a REAL ribbon. Or they have cardboard boxes in a shape of a real red handbag...very very nice.

I am a trained garang guni man, because my mum ALWAYS like to ask me..this box want to keep not? This plastic bag, want to keep not? Then she complain when i keep..say its dusty keeping so many things bla bla bla.

AND! In Peter Alexander, i was so tempted to buy this huge soft toy (expectedly, its a dog) just so i can get the cute shopping bag. Hahaha, kinda silly. But i'm a girl! Its granted.

Also, my new house..the bed is big..and i will get lonely and cold, and the fur is so soft..and (this is justification)....

But i'm proud..i walked out empty-handed. Figured the AUD 39.90 can't let me eat the dog.

Brain food...salmon, potato and brocolli. First paper tommorrow..i think i'm weird..i actually cant wait fot the exams to come..get it over and done with..and its challenging to see what i'm capable of. I've sent in a request to overload my programme next year. Stress and work load will keep me slim (haha, extra incentive), and so i can graduate earlier, start working, pay back and enjoy. So, keep your fingers crossed. I might be back sooner than you think.

I can spend AUD 10 just on fruits you know. I don't understand why fruits, milk, cheese are not cheap here when its abundant. But i can't help it. Fruits here are tempting..wide variety. HAve you tried the REAL fruit apricot? I'll let you know what its like.

Fine.i'm more enthusiastic than most.

Mine's not even over yet, already i've sent my mum her card. Bought a wallet for her, wanted to mail it then thought otherwise. I'm already getting a plane ticket, why spend another ten for mail. It has about 8 compartments or so, something she'll like.Knowing she hasnt been reading my blog, by the time she sees this, the card would have arrived. Its a pop up card :) My creative skills are returning.

Some funny characters dancing along the street..very cute..i'm so afraid that i'll leave the country with no out-of-the-world experiences..i mean, i havent been very wild here nor partying..very very homely...so yes, i must go see the Formula One race this sat, and then the REd Bull Air Race next week. Free events, of course. Hahahaa..cheapo

Once Upon a Time

One day, i returned home to find a group of blue-uniformed police men surrounding the bush in front of my flat. They never did catch the serpent though. Did i mention i saw a slimy thing with four legs climbing the stairs of the neighbour's flat? Very disgusting. Blue-tongued lizard, it is called.

The Dilema is Solved.

Very chalet like isnt it? I will be moving...and i'm excited. New environment...new depression, new decoration..hahaa

Good gosh, help me decide!

I need poll results by tommorrow...

Rent increased to $98 per week for student hostel now, which sprung me into action in sourcing other accomodation. Ok, it was a hasty decision (my room mates said), but the one so far i'm more or less satisfied that is close distance to school ..ends up being the same price as what i pay for school accomodation.

It didn't help much even though i bargained from $90 to $80 for the room, and negotiated half month's rent for the summer holidays where i'm away.

A friend mentioned i was so gung-ho in viewing the house alone, with an asian uncle. No cause for worries, its because i know that neighbourhood pretty well ( i run there every morning), and i specially wore shoes and jeans ( in case i need to fight and run), and also yes, cause i'm pressed for time and i couldn't find anyone to go along with me.

The landlord's from Brunei, and he seems to be very friendly and nice, married, one son, one daughter.

The house, is like Changi chalets, very simple, humble and ok, a tad shabby. But the room i'm going to get is slightly bigger than my current one, with a QUEEN bed, AND the best deciding factor is i won't have to be a normad, moving my things around when summer comes.

And of course, much less people in that house than my present one, and all females.

My house mates ask me not to leave, yeah, i will miss them too..it's always so noisy and lively here. Buuuuut....i don't like being a normad!

So how?! Cost is no longer an issue now, because i can't find somewhere cheap and reasonably good to live. The cheap place i found, has a swimming pool BUT...china occupants. I mean, he sounds nice over the phone...BUT...still have reservations..and its a longer walk to school.

My mouth literally waters..

Each time i work at Chin's. Then today, i found out that they use alot of MSG in their food...chey....now i'm no longer enticed to eat anymore. But i get alot of ideas in cooking my own food though..Thomas is nice though, he entitles me to the tips customers give. So far, i've collected about $70 in tips already :)

can throw in tao qiang with mix vegetables. or make mix vege curry. And so, i went on another supermarket frenzy...lots of vegetables and fruits this time.

Peaches are furry...like eating a hamster.

And there's a castle nearby ( actually, its those private houses but built like a castle) , will show you a picture soon. Its very nice...the shape, colour very similar to a real castle. Or at least, those we see in fairy tales. Even had vines climbing the wall! I will be a queen,i shall build the first castle in Singapore. And its not just in my dreams...

Shhh...

Wad's that i hear...tv, tv, tv!!!

i got a tv!!! Muahahaa, guess who has the last laugh now, Ling Feng? I got a TV!!! And i didn't have to give a single cent! Nanenanebooboo. So it pays to be studious huh..to reject renting a tv at first instance. Now i got my OWN in MY room!

A very kind soul, gave his to me since he's graduating this semester. Just when i was envying E-lynn selling Julia her tv along with some other stuff for HUNDRED BUCKS.

He's giving me his heater too, AND table lamp. AND i got his text books as well :P I am so so happy, more money to spend on groceries now, hahaa. I just bought shit load of fruits and vegetables.

He told me when it was summer and he was staying in the school hostel, there wasnt air con and so he slept naked hugging the heater cum cooler. Then waking every hour to turn it on.
Yes, i've tried it..it blows a pathetic wind. But i'm not feeling the heat so arent planning to get a fan, yet.

All i want for my 21st birthday now is the mini play station with Crash Bandicot and Crash race and Prison Break 2! The boyfriend watches my house mates play the tv games from afar..running back into my room when they turn around. He's funny.

Mum, i've finished all the Vitashake..here's what i eat before going to work. A heavy lunch...green tea soba, chicken, and salad!

Where's Ivan?

Everyone's looking for Ivan...superivan71@hotmail.com, i tell them. They LAUGH!

They're all going to Singapore and look for you , Ivan.

Lawrence said why you keep pestering him to answer if he thinks your mum is hot.

He leaves in the morning, coming out of Jxxxx's room. Just like you, Ivan.

They definitely aren't doing anything because there's a lesbian room-mate...but hmm....then again...hahahaha

Nah, they shouldn't be. But i am so curious though...what could they be doing then? They're not doing the same course either..hahahaa..gossipy..so hard to hold back my tongue from asking.

The boyfriend watches tv when they're not around..keeping watch of who's walking back on the dark pathway. The other day, he was playing with the remote control cars they won at the carnival. One of them suddenly came home, he quickly put it down as soon as the door opened. But she saw, and she laughed and she said "Carry on, i didn't see it."

When Dylan leaves, there will be no microwave. I'm going to survive on NO tv and NO microwave. I refuse to share payment for a microwave..hahahaa, its unhealthy anyway. Tv's unhealthy too...hahahaa

I think i look more and more like my mother..ok,ok got to give some credit to my dad too.

I even got my mother's ass. Which is a compliment to her, after 3 kids...still got an ass like mine..hahahahaa

Trust Issue

Its so darn easy to betray the australian's trust here.

I was interested in a watch at a surf shop, i needed some links taken off because its too big. I left the shop while they obeyed my instructions and proceeded to take it off. I haven't even paid for the item. What if i changed my mind and never went back for it? And they already had taken off the links?

Now, i remember in Singapore, its usually pay first before we do any alterations.

But, being a good citizen and a womand of her word (hee hee, i might be fickle minded sometimes), i went back to get it. But they didn't manage to take the links off, SO they gave me $5 and asked me to go down to the store next door WITH the NEW WATCH and get them to get the links off for me.

Now, at this point in time, no payment on my side made.

The thought DID cross my mind...scoot with the new watch AND $5 to boot. The watch ain't $15 watch. Consider ROXY a valued buy.

Close friends, family fear i will stray off my conscience path, my valued principles, being so far away...but yes, have more faith in me! :P

I hope the surf stuff i got here aint that common in Singapore. The prices isnt that far off from back home but there sure is a wider variety, and perhaps $20 cheaper, after exchange rate. But maybe, i don't walk into surf stores often enough in Singapore. Because they don't really attract me. But Rusty at Parkway Parade is pretty cool.

Oh, did i mention Summer's coming, so are the creatures? The radio and school warned us about snakes coming out to sun bath in the day. The other day, i saw this blue organe black slimy snake with legs aka lizard, waddling around my flat landing.

Very disgusting. It makes my hair stand. It even climbs stairs!!!

i don't want to stay here for summer.

My mum sure is going to borrow this watch from me..hee hee

P.S adding to the list
11) Rojak
12) Tim sum

Miso is my staple...

is it really healthy?Japanese food...

Its a full moon here, is it the same over there? Silly question, hee hee. Because the whole world shares one moon, and the Earth rotates, not the moon. But i wonder about the angle of each country you see. Hang on, my friend from USA just logged on..lemme ask him about the moon there.

"We may be far apart, but look at the moon and i'll look at mine. For that moment in time, we're close at heart."

Lady boss at Chin Noodle's gave me a mooncake..and voila, its with YOLK!! So yes, i've had my fill..don't want anymore.

1. Chilli crab
2. Fried hokkien prawn mee
3. Char Kway Tiao
4. Sambal sting ray
5. Sambal Kang Kong
6. Lor mee
7. Chicken rice
8. Carrot cake
9. Pandan cake
10. Kueh Lapis

Good gosh, i think i will just gobble everything in sight once that plane lands in Singapore. How come so many people still seek to leave Singapore when its really a good country?

Oh, and Mum, you know why Prison Break's setting is so real? Because its a REAL prison! Also one of those disfunctional prisons in USA, that has housed the most notorious criminals. Just like the Fremantle Prison we saw, except Fremantle has a longer history.

She said I got Talent.

After searching high and low, I finally got a lady driving instructor. All the other ones I got from the yellow pages, the men sounded weird. Communication break down. Today’s my first driving lesson, and I’m hooked!! So fun, like Daytona.

She said this’s her first allowing a student on her first lesson to go onto a busy street, because i got talent..i’m a goooood girl, she says. Hahahaa…

Yeah, talent. Talent that Dad didn’t realize his car moved from the parking lot to the staircase one day when we were all rushing for school/ work. Hee hee heee

Its really different though, how they access driving here. Do you know for your test, you drive barefoot? Hahhaaa..pity whoever has Hongkong foot. Now, why is it called Hong Kong anyway.

Also, so interesting, they give you scenarios. Like going to the shopping center, leaving something behind and going back etc.

I hope to pass first time, because I don’t wanna lose time. I’m juggling work, studies and driving now. And I like being a super woman. SO I’m taking auto, and I’m not a loser, Norman.

I didn’t want to waste brain juices figuring manual out. I tried, clutch, press, stall. Most cars are auto anyway, but I DID consider..what if one day I kana kidnapped, then the car is MANUAL!! Then how I escpae, I wont have the skill. I will be dead…

Norman says I’m irritating, because of such thinking but hey! Things DO happen what…but Norman helped me figure it out..the kidnappers will probably be just as loser as me. They use auto cars too..hahahaha

And I think I’m so disciplined. I actually bothered to wake up at 7am this morning to run, then went for my first driving lesson at 9am, then studied, cooked lunch, went for lectures, cooked dinner and studied.

The boyfriend says my cooking is getting better by the day. But the boyfriend’s greedy, always say I cook too little, but reaching the end of the meal, he’s always complaining he’s too full.

I’m going to wake up at 7am everyday now, leading up to my exams. Ok, try to. So I can make up for loss time. The 2 weeks I played with mum and ivan.

Ba ba black sheep, have they any you. Yes sir, yes sir, I miss you.

P.S I overheard my house mate talking with her girlfriend on the phone..their baby will be called Lychee.

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

24. Lost.

Less than 24 hours, i've already cracked the pot mum brought for me. Hahahah, i did everything she taught me to do..but still....hmmmm...i'm not gonna admit i can't do without my mother. That sounds so baby. I'm a big girl! But mum made it seem like my living conditions are very bad and dirty.

But really, after they leave..everything seems to go haywire. Even my normally superb freezer is not as cold as before..so my other house mates whose shelves are above mine are dripping their meat's blood onto my shelf!!

Monday, October 02, 2006

Time flies...fruit flies, summer flies.

My house mates left them a note, and Ivan wrote back. Its been whacky, them fooling around. You see Ivan in my house mate (a female)'s room, entering and leaving at weird hours of the night. I hear CK now playing soccer on his own outside..aww, he must miss Ivan. Lawrence thinks my mum is hot. The boyfriend realised where i got my butt from..ACCIDENTALLY. Right...hahahaa. Its so quiet around here now.

My brother so romantic ar...returning home from the air port..i saw he left me a poem. Ok, at least this is so much easier to decipher than those on his blog.

When they're here, you feel them taking up space. When they're gone. Its suddenly so empty.

The locals are really generous with buskers. 10 dollar, 5 dollar..a shower of coins...what can i busk about? I realised, i don't have such skills.

One of my own convicts in cell 5. This is what Ivan does when there's nothing to do. Stare in space...the other day on the train, a little boy was asking if he could stay at his friend's house for the holidays. The parents rejected his idea..he start whining and pleading saying its sooo boring at home. Is perth more boring than singapore?

i hear Singapore's planting such along Orchard Road now. Is it true? Spring is here.

I look like a stick insect!!

The torchlights were momentos to keep. Cool! You should have seen the souveneirs. Even cooler!! LIFE SIZE Prison cell key rings, miniture ball bearings, cuffs etc. Pity they were not made into key chains then at least they're practical then higher possiblity to purchase.

Their uniform's really funny. Look more like clowns. Anyway, good thing we went for the night tour, its fun and there were actors and rehearsed scares. You pay the same price for the day tours sans all that.

Now, this IS really like prison break. 3 levels high, rows and rows of cell. Its scary if you're alone here at night. Know why the wire net's there? Was implemented after a 17 year old boy fell off the top floor and died. Wasnt sure if he commited suicide or murdered.

Michael Fay never learns his lesson isn't it? hahaa..these drawings depict their life in prison actually. Some of them. So bored, they used chalk.

A double room, with a bucket to share for poo.

A 20cm x 20 cm cell, maybe? But Yay! Personal bucket.

This is the nastiest room of all. The gallows. Had a nasty musty smell in it as well. But i think its rust. We were joined with a school kids tour, these kids were really well behaved. But in this room, a couple of them felt giddy and wanted to leave. I was so afraid the one next to me will puke on me. Hahaha..but the boys who pull their hoods up were kinda unsettling in such a dark eerie prison. Plus they were so short..you see them with their hoods on bobbing around.

This reminds me of the easel that you do paintings on. But its actually a spanking post.

This prison is about 200 years old. No longer functioning, its now supposedly 'haunted'. After the tour, we all gathered to exchange photos as some people pointed out 'orbs' in their cameras. As well as 'faces' in their orbs. I suppose it might be reflections, but oh well...things of the unexplainable. Its how you believe it. But i got to hand it over to the guards who lock down the place at night after all the tours. Freaky scary, with hundreds of cells to lock.

A prisoner's timetable. 6am, out of bed. 11.15pm, back to bed. That's quite a hard life. Looking at their living conditions, you cant help bu pity them. Oh well, nobody asked them to commit crimes. Now, what's the difference between a prisoner and a convict?

And so after the trip, everyone's hooked on Prison Break..i've watched snipplets of it here and there like thrice. The settings are so similar to the show, so surreal. What a kick! Scofield is really really good looking too, reminds me fondly of a friend. Same attitude, same look, same eyes. Irony bit, his father owns a funeral parlour. Hahahaa.

We took little photos together..one of the few. I guess i wasnt so much in the mood, because when they leave, looking at them will be unbearable.

In my garden, there's Papa rabbit and baby. Mama's missing. Maybe eaten by an eagle.

These are the very irritating yet very pretty birds that chirp every morning 530 AM!! outside my window.

Ivan's quite a photo whore now..he insisted on this picture.

Day One

Mum and Ivan have arrived!! With a whole load of my junk. hahaa..mum cooked just vegetables and mushrooms for lunch today..Somehow it taste sooo goood

Reuse, Recycle, Resource.

Ta-dah!

Happy Birthday, Dad. In advance, cause the next few days, we wouldnt be home. Hahhaa..

The work of a mass commer. You just got to be patient and understand the weird antics of one. They always turn out very good. Just like what i do, isnt it?

I like this meal the best, although abit indulgent. Eel...

My food looks more and more appetizing doesn't it? Steamed egg, soba and honey chicken.

My first movie here. Only watch movies here on Tuesday..its $9.50. On other days, whooping $15. The movie i saw? Snakes on a Plane. Don't ask me why i chose a B-grade movie, there's no other things to watch!!

The convertible that raced us to Mandurah for fishing. Its Honda, funny how i don't see Hondas like these in Singapore. I'm not impressed with sitting in a sports car though. Too low to get in and out, too chilly, too much dirt. hahhaaa...
