Friends of Piney Lake

I've seen ang mohs drip chilli oil all over their cha sao baos.

Tim Sum around the neighbourhood.
I was meant to recee this reserve and interview the users of this park for a project. But no prize for guessing what we ended up doing.

We were inspired by Hair Spray. Zac is very handsome! Hmmm..Michael Scofield or Zac or tom welling...tough choice.

That pot of yogurt just appears everywhere because i can't find a bin! Bad park management.

I have 3 layers of fat!!! Or maybe they're the folds of my clothes. I don't know.

And so, the wedding's in 2 weeks. I need help in choosing a dress. Cause i will need to alter it. Most of them are a little bit big, but i got them anyway because they are really nice, below $50 and i know Far East Square does alterations for like $5. But erm...i just tried them on again, and they don't seem to be as big as before..Oh-O! :S

Contestant number 1.
Typical black number.
This has very nice ruffles in front, chiffon material.

The material of the skirt is wonderful! Soft velvety, feels like silk but its not silk. Pity though that i am not ultra skinny, very busty or very leggy so such empire cut makes me look stumpy.

Maybe i will save it as a pregnant dress. Hahahaa.

Typical black dress again.

So yes, take your pick. I personally think blue or the pink one. Because i know everyone else will be wearing black. Hah! When a girl asks for opinion, she already usually knows her answer. Ha. but no, i need your opinion. According to my friend, this wedding is a FORMAL thing. Unlike Singapore, its just smart casual. Over here, even just going to the casino they get decked out in glamorous style.

Is anyone a size 8? Cause this pretty pair of shoes is not my size. I am selling it for $40, $30 if i like you. Never worn before. Except for this picture, of course. Erm, its a long and ridiculous story why i have them. I bought them because i didn't want the Indian auntie to 'steal' such a steal from me.

He looks like Leon Lai here. Not his best picture though.

I haven't blogged for a while, haven't i? Its because there're no visuals to upload and without visuals, its boring!

so just some updates to all who's concerned...i just brought the boyfriend to Cirque Du Soleil last Sunday. Meant to be a 'farewell' gift and since he has never been to a 'circus' before. Can't consider the Canadian French acrobats a circus since there are no animals involved. Nonetheless, i think he enjoyed it although westerners are always more easily impressed than asians. I'm not sure if they're more easily impressed or simply they give compliments easier.

But anyway, i told the boyfriend that it should be my dad i'm bringing to because it's his birthday. But since he's not here.....ha ha ha.

My first experience of the Cirque Du Soleil was in Singapore. But i think the ang moh who brought me there felt 'cheated' because he bought front row seats (most expensive) and took me to dinner at a Japanese restaurant but he didn't get anything out of me. Just a 'thanks for a great night!" Hahaha. I made it clear i wasn't interested in him but he still wanted to bring me anyway :S

So anyway, speaking of culture..i have a wedding to attend to in Oct. I'm pretty excited, wonder how weddings are like in a western country. Although the couple is Chinese, i'm hoping it will still be something different. And my friend who asked me to accompany him there (although i know the couple too) offered to pay for a new dress! Cause he told me its a black tie event. I politely declined because i have tons of new dresses but its very tempting to accept the offer. He insisted, but nah...don't want to owe him anything but i must say, VERY tempting. We're going to shop for a wedding present together anyway, so...hahaha, i hope i wont be a typical woman.

On the other note, wei bin bought me mooncakes!! Durian flavour included! I feel soooo looooved....its so nice! Mini ping bi mooncakes! YAY!! And of course, alvin is super nice to bring over them! I don't know why the aunties 'dislike' Alvin, like for example, my mother thinks he is bad influence to my brother. Little did she know my brother is already 'bad'. Hahahaa.I think Alvin is a very nice boy! But that is all in the past, i think my mother likes him now. Coz i praise him to her. Hahahaha!

P.S the boyfriend is all over the news now, even made it to Singapore news. i am glad his big head has deflated abit now. Ha ha, i like shy boys. Cause i like to intimidate.

While he's on national news, i went for a picnic.

Just as i was about to go for this picnic, i received an sms from the boyfriend about his emergency (read story below). Feeling it's like my duty to be there when he tides over the crisis, i went down to the airport.

Just as i was about to enter, i received another sms from him that he has landed safely and seeing the lobby full of people and media, i decided to disappear. Let him enjoy his moment of fame. And so i turned around and went for my picnic, leaving a note to say "i was here." on his windscreen.Spring is here, and we're out to play.

This mutt loves females, hates boys. Barks at whites, loves asians.

The clouds look like The Simpsons!

Oh yes, a family of dolphins could be spotted in the lake behind us. Lakes in Singapore are small, but when you come here, lakes are redefined.

And so, happy birthday.

Pilot 'belly-lands' stricken plane at Jandakot

LOOK MUM, NO WHEELS: Trainee commercial pilot Chris Choo safely landed his plane without landing gear at Jandakot this morning. Picture: Stewart Allen

A TRAINEE pilot has walked away uninjured after successfully completing a "belly-landing'' at Jandakot Airport today when the plane's landing gear failed.

Chris Choo, 22, issued a distress signal to air traffic control about 9.30am when the landing gear of his single-propeller plane would not come down.

The small Mooney plane with just the trainee pilot on board had been circling Jandakot Airport for about two hours to burn off fuel after it was discovered one of the landing wheels would not fully release into position.

Royal Aero Club of WA chief executive officer Alan Hoffman spoke to Mr Choo by radio after he made the distress call.
Mr Hoffman told Mr Choo he would send a chief engineer and a flying instructor in another small plane to fly alongside the aircraft for a closer inspection of the faulty landing gear.

"These planes have a wheel on the front and two on the side and one of the ones on the side only came half way down,’’ he said. "The engineer and instructor determined it wasn’t possible to get that gear down. "You can land in that situation but obviously it’s quite dangerous.’’

The airport activated its emergency response plan and suspended all other activity during the emergency.
Mr Hoffman instructed Mr Choo to pull all the landing gear up and land on the plane’s belly which he deemed as the safest way. After two trial runs the pilot cut the engine just before landing and skidded for 15 seconds before he brought the plane to a halt about 11.15am.
Mr Hoffman said in this situation landing on a tarmac runway was safer than landing on grass.
"The risks associated with friction causing flames or anything like that is extremely low.’’ Mr Choo was checked by medical staff and went through a counselling session to make sure he was not in shock.

"He was absolutely delighted he said the 15 seconds was a lifetime to him on the runway but he was calm.’’
"He had the skills to do it no doubt, he just needed to have the confidence.’’ The number of incidents involving Mooney aircraft were very low according to Mr Hoffman. "These are trialled and trained aircraft which we use because they have very few incidences.’’

He said Mr Choo would be back in the sky tomorrow.

Can you see? My delicious spare ribs baking.

The other day, i cut some mangos that were too mashed up to eat as a fruit, so i made it into a salad with vermicilli, prawns, cucumber and chilli. Trying to copy the thai dish : Mango salad

Just a very sweet tasty salad.

I suggested a triple date one night, went to this Mexican restaurant. Nice ambience, but wouldn't be nice if its a couple date because its too noisy to have a get to know you better conversation. Unless you prefer not to speak to your partner.

The beef is quite like a chinese dish, you just wrap up mexican style. I told the boyfriend i can make this for him loh, its so expensive in the restaurant!

The boyfriend has put on some weight, perhaps my cooking is superb. Haha, and he is saving his hair for Singapore's barber. So am i. Its $40 here for just a trim!

The youngest couple here. Its another story how they met, its erm...juicy gossip. Ha haha, but i cant say it here now, since their faces are on. Ethics la.

My Malaysian house mates.

On a early weekend morning, we made our way to a flea market. Many of them found treasures, not me. Coz i already have a problem storing my current stuff, so had to practice discipline. Treasures found were a hollywood slate (annnd action!), foosball table, old record player, authentic chess board and many other retro stuff. I think the most expensive buy was only $20 tops. All were people's junk.

Went for tim sum after that and it looks like the auntie is throwing out the plate, or using magic to make it fly to her.

and then i discovered a new function on my camera (selective colouring! ok, it was actually since yesterday)

This pic rocks...too bad i'm not in it, coz i was the photographer.

Still not tired of it.

I love my Canon! As well as Crumpler. Both Cs!

Oh yar, they have very funky license plates here. The other day, i saw one XXXX. How cool is that!
